Community Health Worker Program

About

The COVID-19 Community Health Worker (CHW) Initiative aims to address persistent health disparities and vaccine hesitancy in Pennsylvania and Delaware by offering support and resources to vulnerable and under-resourced populations, and to newly identified populations eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Academy/DPHA is working with the Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) to identify, engage, train, and support CHWs from communities across Delaware to help effectively underserved communities achieve health equity and better health outcomes.

This project will deploy a strategic marketing and communications plan to address vaccine hesitancy by educating communities on the facts and overcoming myths about the COVID-19 vaccine in Delaware.  This plan is informed by focus groups in vulnerable communities with representatives of targeted populations who are reluctant to get vaccinated.
