Protecting Delaware: VPD Trends and Immunization Program Overview

Davia McKoy, PharmD, MS for Awe Maduka-Ezeh, MD, MPH, PhD; Medical Director, Delaware Division of Public Health

Dr. Davia McKoy, PharmD, is a pharmacy professional dedicated to advancing public health through clinical expertise and strategic leadership. A Delaware native, she earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Chemistry from North Carolina A&T State University and her Doctor of Pharmacy from MCPHS University. She holds certifications in MTM, diabetes care, and immunization delivery, with experience spanning cancer chemopreventive research, APhA-ASP leadership, and over a decade in pharmacy practice. Since 2021, she has supported statewide outbreak response and antimicrobial stewardship and now serves as Delaware’s Immunization Program Manager, leading efforts to expand vaccine access, education, and uptake.

Vaccines for Vector Borne Diseases (presentation)

Neil Rellosa, MD; Attending Physician & HIV Program Director, Division of Infectious Diseases, Nemours Childrens’ Health

Dr. Neil Rellosa graduated from Temple University School of Medicine and completed his internship and pediatric residency at Thomas Jefferson University/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children.  He then went on to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Disease at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.  During his fellowship he also served as a Medical Officer for the Food and Drug Administration.  Following fellowship, he was an attending physician at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in both the Sections of Infectious Diseases and HIV/Immunology.  He came back to Nemours Children Hospital in Delaware eight years ago and currently serves as the HIV Program Director and as one of the attending physicians in the Division of Infectious Diseases. He is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Thomas Jefferson University-Sidney Kimmel Medical College and his clinical and scholarly/research interests including Lyme Disease, HIV, Hepatitis C, COVID-19 & MIS-C and PrEP for adolescents.

Vaccines for HIV: Historical Perspectives and Current Concepts (presentation)

Adam Skrzynski, MD; William J. Holloway Community Program, ChristianaCare

Dr. Adam King Skrzynski, MD is an infectious disease specialist at ChristianaCare’s William J. Holloway Community Program, subspecializing in HIV medicine, hepatitis B and C, as well as HIV and STI prevention. An undergraduate alumnus of the University of Michigan, he studied medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit. Adam went on to do his internal medicine residency, chief residency, and infectious disease fellowship at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, part of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. He is currently completing his master’s in public health degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with interests in global and humanitarian health, as well as public health and vaccine policy.

Mr. Brian Mabie Brian Mabie is the Pharmacy Director for DMMA and is in his third year with the state. Before coming to DMMA, he was the pharmacist in charge for the East Coast for Med Impact which is a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM). He was responsible for servicing all accounts for Commercial, Part D, and Medicaid; making sure that all prior authorization claims were reviewed in a timely manner. He has been married to Kim for 40 years, and is currently going into his 45th year as a practicing pharmacist. He is licensed in four states including Delaware.

Cassandra Codes-Benjamin, MPA has over twenty years of experience in public health, child health, family wellbeing and equity centered approaches. Cassandra is as a subject matter expert on topics related to family wellbeing, health equity, examining root causes of health inequities and evidence-based practices for addressing social determinants of health. She is co-author of the Delaware Health Equity Guide for Public Health Practitioners and Partners. Cassandra has experience in the private, nonprofit and government sectors which includes almost two decades of experience working at the community level, engaged in initiatives to improve the health status and economic status of vulnerable children and families. Cassandra is currently the Director of School Support Services for the Delaware Department of Education. She provides support and oversight for initiatives that support educators, students, and families.

Mike Osterholm, PhD, MPH; Regents Professor, McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair in Public Health, Director, Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), University of Minnesota

Michael Osterholm, PhD, MPH, is Regents Professor, McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair in Public Health, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, a professor in the Technological Leadership Institute, College of Science and Engineering, and an adjunct professor in the Medical School, all at the University of Minnesota.
