This week, vaccine advocates from around the country will be in Washington, D.C. to urge members of Congress to protect access to lifesaving vaccines. Join them in raising our collective voices by contacting your members of Congress today and asking them to support the Protecting Free Vaccines Act!
Vaccinate Your Family’s SQUAD™ (SQuaring Up Against Disease) advocates will be sharing their personal – and often heartbreaking – stories of how vaccine-preventable diseases have affected them and their families. By sharing these stories, they’ll remind Representatives and Senators that vaccines are our best defense against serious outcomes like hospitalization and death. Unfortunately, vaccine access is at risk, and outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases (e.g., measles, pertussis) are currently happening across the country.
The Protecting Free Vaccines Act (H.R. 5448/S. 2857):
- Would ensure vaccines recommended by the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) as of October 2024 continue to be covered by insurance without cost-sharing.
- Ensures that people with private insurance plans, Medicare Part D, and Medicaid can continue to receive these routine immunizations at no cost.
- Includes coverage for the Vaccines for Children program, which provides no-cost vaccines to eligible children who can’t afford them – roughly 50% of children in the U.S
Eliminating cost barriers to lifesaving vaccines is critical to protecting ourselves, our families, and our communities from vaccine-preventable diseases.
