The National Immunization Survey (NIS) and Immunization Information System (IIS, aka DelVAX) track vaccine coverage rates nationally and in the state of Delaware. The NIS data for children (19-35 months) track the following rates and is considered complete if a child has received:
4 DTaP | 3 Polio | 1 MMR | 3 Hib | 3 HepB | 1 Var | 4 PCV | HepA | Rota
Percent of Children 19-35 Months Who Have Received a Complete Vaccination Series
(2020 Goal: 80.0%)
Year | Nationally | Delaware |
---|---|---|
2009 | 44.3 | 38.9 |
2010 | 56.6 | 54.3 |
2011 | 68.5 | 63.5 |
2012 | 68.4 | 72.6 |
2013 | 72.6 | 74.8 |
2014 | 71.6 | 74.5 |
2015 | 72.2 | 79.3 |
CDC changed the way that NIS results are reported starting in 2019. In the past, results were reported for children 19-35 months of age at the time of the survey. Now, results for most vaccines are reported at 24 months of age by birth year. Exemptions to this are the hepatitis B birth dose and Rotavirus vaccines which are reported at younger ages because they are completed before 24 months. Complete vaccination series is considered complete if a child has received the following:
4 DTaP | 3 Polio | 1 MMR | 3 Hib | 3 HepB | 1 Var | 4 PCV
Percent of Children at 24 Months Who Have Received a Complete Vaccination Series
(Healthy People 2030 Goal)

2015-16 | 68.5% | 69.4% |
2016-17 | 70.5% | 77.1% |
