DPH Encourages Eligible Delawareans to Get Boosted Now

DOVER, DE (July 15, 2022) – The Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) reports that COVID-19 cases experienced an uptick in the daily 7-day average for the percentage of positive tests since the previous monthly COVID-19 update released on June 17, 2022. Since that time, Delaware has also exceeded 3,000 COVID-related deaths. FDA Limits J&J COVID-19 Vaccine

The FDA yesterday set limits on Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine because of the risk of a clotting disorder discovered weeks after the vaccine was first put into use in spring 2021. The agency said its review of the available data on the risk of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia — or TTS — suggested limiting access to the vaccine is warranted. The ICD is engaged in the Delaware Academy of Medicine/Delaware Public Health Association’s COVID-19 Community Health Worker (CHW) Initiative. This initiative aims to address persistent health disparities and vaccine hesitancy in Pennsylvania and Delaware by offering support and resources to vulnerable and under-resourced populations, and to newly identified populations eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccines a Poor Match for 2021-2022 Flu Season

Preliminary CDC estimates released yesterday show flu vaccines were not a good match for the most common strain circulating through the current 2021-2022 flu season, which peaked in December.
